Scholastic's Warehouse Sale..

Just an FYI thing -- I took my kids out to Scholastic this morning to their "Warehouse" sale, and we had a great time. I bought 10 books for $31 AND they gave both my kids a free "Clifford the dog" large furry stuffed animal.

There were only 3 price points - $1, $3, or $5. If any book was regularly over $11- it was $5 on sale.

Now, you woulda thought that after staying home this morning with my kids, finger painting, letting them splash around in the bath tub for an hour, and then taking them to our local McDonalds to play in the tubes & eat chicken nuggets, that they would have been happy to sit in the stroller and ride around looking at fun books - but no.. my son was being a total sh*t. I gave him furry animals to hang onto, flashing balls, cute books, and one by one, he got his knickers in a twist, and threw them out of this "pram"... I guess it's totally 2 year old behaviour, but it winds me up. I didn't have to go there with them this afternoon, in fact, truth be told, I went to my first moms night out last night, and after sharing a pitcher of margaritas, it would have been *easier* for me to stay home with them.

My daughter has just in the last few weeks discovered her feet. It's bloody annoying. Right before Xmas we went to the mall to the stride rite store and bought her these new cute pink slip on shoes by Merril I think, we put them on her, and left the mall. We stopped at the park, and then came straight home. My husband was in charge of putting her in and out of the car, while I did my son... he didn't notice her lose one of them. $46 down the tubes, in a matter of hours. So the week after that, I went to the outlet mall, and bought her another pair from the stride right store - this time, more reasonably priced at $31 (for the exact same shoe as last week). Still quite a lot for a pair of toddler size 5 shoes. About a week later, she'd tossed one of them - god knows were. It's somewhere in our house, I think. So back to the outlet mall once more, and this time bought some with the velcro snaps. Today, she took those off twenty million times while we were walking around, and threw them out... luckily I noticed it right away, and picked them up and put them back on her feet. After let's say 20 times of this - at some point I just wanted to beat her with the damn shoe. So I put them in the basket underneath, and we finished shopping (for them I might add)... she took her socks off, and lost both of them in between the checkout and the car... couldn't find them anywhere.

I bought large coloured books for my kids like Snuggle Up little one, A treasury of bedtime stories, Dad, are you the toothfairy by Jason Alexander, I love my busy book by Cyndy Szekeres, and several others which had list prices of around $24 and up. They had a huge selection of board books that would retail for $6 - $9 that I paid $1 - $3 for. They also had a coupon online for 2 free books, if the books were on sale for less than $4.99 - and lots were..

They told me when I was leaving that this wasn't really their "big" event, and that I should look out for them in May. I spend a fortune at Barnes & Noble, so this was a total bonus!

They had a lot of buzz and info about the upcoming release of Harry Potter ~ having read all of the series to date, I can't wait till it gets released!
